The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) has stepped up coconut planting and fertilisation efforts across Palawan, delivering a major shipment of salt fertiliser and accelerating replanting work, a provincial report says.

According to the report from the Philippine Information Agency supplied to this newsroom, Palawan received 40,000 bags of salt fertiliser intended to cover roughly 10,000 hectares of coconut land. PCA and provincial authorities estimate that almost one million coconut trees could benefit from the fertiliser distribution.

The planting drive is already under way. The report says about 1,600 hectares had been planted as of June 2026, with the province and PCA setting a target to expand planting to more than 2,000 hectares by 2027.

Provincial agricultural and PCA staff are expected to coordinate distribution and technical assistance, though the source summary did not include a detailed schedule, lists of recipient municipalities or farmer groups, or contact information for local implementing offices.

Local coconut farmers stand to gain from renewed planting and fertiliser inputs at a time when replanting and productivity recovery are priorities for smallholder livelihoods in Mimaropa. Fertiliser and planting support can improve yields and help rejuvenate aging coconut stands, but complementary services—such as farm advisory, pest control, and market linkages—are typically needed for lasting impact.
